One of my favorite things to do on Saturday nights is to listen to Garrison Keillor on NPR. Who, you ask, is Garrision Keillor?
If you listen to NPR, and especially Minnesota Public Radio, you might know Garrison Keillor as the "man with the red shoes." His variety shows consist of story telling, folk songs, jokes, the "news from Lake Woebegon," and vintage style commercials. I think of it as the radio version of Saturday Night live with drier humor and more entertainment. I especially love it because of his references to Minnesota. His radio show, Prairie Home Companion, is one of the longest running radio shows of all time, and his broadcasts are done from the Fitzgerald Theatre in St. Paul, MN, but he also does tours all over the country.
Check out this clip of his "news from Lake Woebegon." Watch for the red shoes!

My Dad has always loved Garrison Keillor (have you read his books?), but I didn't fall in love with him when I was a tour director in Alaska--he has some great Alaska stories. Anyway, I didn't realize his show was still broadcast--good to know!
