So, you've noticed... I stopped blogging! There are many reasons for this. In a nutshell I had other priorities including training for a half marathon, applying to graduate school and studying for the GMAT, and some extra travel for work (and play).

Although I haven't been posting, I actually have been taking pictures. I just wrapped up some fabulous trips to LA, MN, MI, and SF that I am really looking forward to sharing. I also did some portraits of a brand new babe and of my very own extended family.

To get back into the swing of things, here are some lovely peonies that I purchased at the farmer's market for a whopping deal of $5.

farmer's market friday: park city arts festival

My Farmer's Market cards are all packed away, so this week I'm featuring Park City Arts festival, which we attended last weekend. If you've never been, it's totally worth it, it's one of the largest arts festivals in the country. We went to breakfast at The Eating Establishment (after huffing it up the Main Street hill) and then coasted back down the hill to see all the vendors. Our favorites were:

• strategically selected book titles reinvented into functional wall hangings (key hooks, bookshelves, etc.)
• the coffee table that doubles as a marimba
• found object sculptures

farmer's market friday: FuLL giVe

FuLL giVe was a rookie at the FM last week. This guy works for himself creating sweet graffiti designs all day on belts, cuffs, and any other kind of leather crafts you can think of. His booth was home-made from recycled materials, and he loved chatting up his curious customers. He is seriously talented. I know I'll be stopping by his etsy shop for some gifts!

Fabulous friend Kara launched her Etsy site! She is muy talented, and makes her own paper, watercolors her own original designs, and then frames them with refurbished frames. You can check out here stuff on Etsy. She also has an amazing blog featuring thrift store treasures that she brings back to life.

I hope it doesn't rain this weekend! I've got 4 (!) shoots scheduled, and I need to fit them in, because next week is just as busy!

If you've never been to San Antonio before, I'd highly recommend it. It's a place alive with textures, colors, and more history than you can imagine. I couldn't get enough of this cultural city. We explored the riverwalk, La Villita, the Alamo, and the Menger Hotel.

I love this image by Robert Doisneau. It's always been one of my favorites. I have a great excuse to post it, because the Utah Valley Symphony has another concert series next week on Wednesday 1/21 and Thursday 1/22. Please come!

This fellow is amazing. I can't imagine where I'd find time to do a photograph a day, much less, a painting a day! His pieces are so detailed and they have so much depth. I imagine he's had plenty of practice.

I suppose the first statement of every blogger begs the question, "What is the purpose of my postings?" At the suggestion of a friend, I've started this blog to showcase some of my photography, as well as challenge myself to focus on new assignments and subject matter. While I've primarily been interested in portraiture for the last few years, I'm starting to delve into stock photos and fine art as well. I hope to create a bi-weekly post, and each post will embody a new theme. I don't like to write much, and let's face it, my words aren't that entertaining, so I'll mostly let my images speak for themselves. While critique isn't a word with an overly positive connotation, I'd like to invite readers to constructively criticize my images. I'd like to use your feedback to improve my technique & subject matter.

And so I begin, with something old. A little spring cleaning, if you will, as I say 'out with the old, in with the new.'
