enigma.

This time of year I miss playing in the symphony. Good thing I have my FORTE membership! I need to pick out a few concerts to attend this year.

One of my favorite orchestral pieces features this...

chances.

Again, I'm behind the times, but I just saw The Blindside last week, and I loved it! If you haven't already seen it yet, GO. I'm especially stuck on the song 'Chances' by Five for Fighting. It makes me wonder, how did I get so lucky?

requiem.

For the final concert of our 2008-2009 season, the Utah Valley Symphony will be performing the entire Brahms Requiem. We have a choir that will be singing with us (in German), and they sound amazing! If you'd like a comp ticket, please comment on this post.

April 29th & 30th @ 7:30 PM
Covey Center for the Performing Arts (Center Street in Provo)
Tickets are $10 for Students or $12 for adults
Rush tickets are $5 10 minutes before the performance starts

Don't know what the Brahms Requiem sounds like?
Here's my personal favorite movement.

last minute.

The Utah Valley Symphony (of which I am a member) asked me last minute to photograph their dress rehearsal last night. Between playing, I had a great time photographing my captivating subjects. Here's a taster.

music to my ears.

I love this image by Robert Doisneau. It's always been one of my favorites. I have a great excuse to post it, because the Utah Valley Symphony has another concert series next week on Wednesday 1/21 and Thursday 1/22. Please come!

On the program:
Tallis Fantasia by Vaughn Williams
Symphony No. 5 (THE SYMPHONY) by Beethoven
Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 by Bach

Tickets are $12, $10 for students. And the best kept secret of all, student rush tickets (10 minutes before the performance begins) are only $5!

You can purchase your tickets at the door, or call ahead at (801) 852-7007.

enigma.

Variations, that is. What a great piece! A new addition to our concert repertoire next week. We're only playing an excerpt, but I think it's one of the best. Have a listen.
